It looks like the first overall will be back on the field sooner than we think.
Defensive end Myles Garrett was seen without his walking boot for the first time on Wednesday. Garrett has missed the first two games of the season with a high ankle sprain that generally takes 4-6 weeks to heal. He was also seen on the stationary bikes during the media portion of practice.
Hue Jackson told reporters that Garrett has made “huge progress” in his recovery and he isn’t ready to rule him out for Sunday’s game against Indianapolis.
I only hope that Garrett isn’t rushing back, he needs to take his time and make sure the ankle is 100% before stepping back on the field for the future of his career and the organization’s investment of the first overall pick of last April’s draft.
Browns sign Porter
The team filled it’s open roster spot Wednesday morning by signing defensive back Reggie Porter from the Ravens practice squad.
Porter (5’11, 185) went undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft and spent the preseason with the Detroit Lions. He played in all four games and had 2 tackles and 2 pass deflections.
Crowell thinking about that payday.
Running back Isaiah Crowell has struggled during the beginning of the season but that hasn’t stopped him from thinking about his next contract.
Well with 70 yards in two games and an average of 2.6 yards per carry, he isn’t going to break the bank in free agency if that he continues that production.
He also said he questions Hue Jackson’s playcalling “sometimes” which I think everyone has during the head coach’s tenure but that’s not a good look to be criticizing the head coach out to the media. Crowell should consider working on his vision, finding open lanes and find ways to help make his quarterback more comfortable on the field.
Coates, Collins not practicing
Wide receiver Sammie Coates and linebacker Jamie Collins did not practice on Wednesday.
Coates is dealing with a hamstring injury while Collins is still in the concussion protocol.
Joe Thomas had his usual Wednesday off and obviously Myles Garrett didn’t practice.
