Leading up to the NFL Draft, I’ll be looking back at past Browns picks based on the picks they currently hold in the 2017 Draft.

Today we’ll look at the 188th pick. The Browns have the 185th pick but they’ve never had that selection in the past. They’ve held the 188th pick three times previously.

1960-QB Jim Walden, Wyoming 

No info on the player. Never played in an NFL game.

1977-OL Bob Lingenfelter, Nebraska

The offensive tackle/guard was selected in the seventh round back in 1977 after being an honorable mention All-American and making the first team All-Big Eight.

He played just two seasons in the NFL, one with Cleveland and the other in Minnesota. He appeared in 19 games and made two starts, both with the Browns.

1987-FS Thane Gash, East Tennessee St.

A seventh round pick in the 1987 draft, Gash enjoyed a little success during his four years in the NFL. A reserve his rookie season, he started the next two as the free safety in the Cleveland defense alongside Frank Minnifield, Hanford Dixon and Felix Wright.

In 1988, he recorded three interceptions and two sacks. Two of those interceptions he returned for a touchdown.

In 1989, he had just one interception but started all 16 games for Cleveland. 

Gash left Cleveland for San Francisco following the 1991 season but only played three games for the 49ers in 1992.
