Browns Draft History: #52 Pick

Leading up to the NFL Draft, I’ll be looking back at past draft picks for the Browns, based on what picks they currently hold in the 2017 Draft.

Today, we look at the 52nd pick. The Browns have held this pick five times previously.

1950-C Bob Wilson, Wisconsin

Never played an NFL game after the Browns selected him in the fourth round. He opted to play baseball instead, spending ten years in the major leagues with the White Sox, Tigers and Indians.

1957-DT Henry Jordan, Virginia

The Browns drafted him in the fifth round out of Virginia. He spent two seasons with Cleveland until they traded him to the Green Bay Packers for a fourth round pick.

Jordan went to four Pro Bowls, named to the All-Pro team seven times and won five NFL championships and two Super Bowls with the Packers.

Jordan tragically passed away in 1977 from a heart attack after jogging at the age of 42. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995.

A second round pick under Butch Davis, Thompson was a  rotation linebacker for the Browns during his five years here.

His best season came in 2005 when he started 15 games and had 83 total tackles, 5 sacks, two forced fumbles and a recovery.

He was waived by the Browns before the 2010 season and he spent time in Denver that season.

He’s since spent time in the CFL and was last seen with the Los Angeles Kiss in the Arena Football League.
