Browns and Jets talking trade?

We’re eight days away from the NFL Draft and the rumors are flying about what the Cleveland Browns will do regarding the quarterback position. reported this on Wednesday: has learned from sources that the Browns and Jets are talking about a trade that would have the Browns moving up from the 12th pick to the Jets’ selection at No. 6 in order to take a quarterback. Cleveland is said to want North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

This ties together with Sports Illustrated and MMQB’s Peter King’s report on Monday that the Jets were among three teams at the top of the draft who are looking to trade down and that the Browns were looking to move up to draft a quarterback.

It’s also another report tying the Browns together with North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky who is the top quarterback by many draft analysts.

It’s just very odd that the Jets are rumored to want to trade down when they’re also looking for a quarterback. They have former Browns quarterback Josh McCown as the projected starter and Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty who they’ve selected in the last two drafts.

Unless they’re going to tank this upcoming season to be in position to draft USC’s Sam Darnold next year, I don’t see why they would pass up on a quarterback.

I do believe the Browns are looking to find their franchise quarterback in this draft but I’m not sold on if Trubisky is their guy just yet.

I also believe the Browns are looking to move up from the 12th pick to secure their quarterback. Whether that’s Trubisky, Deshaun Watson or even Pat Mahomes II.

I will say this with warning however, don’t believe everything you read or hear.

Last year, a majority of the media said the Browns loved Carson Wentz, well they loved him so much that they traded down instead of drafting him with the second overall pick.

Then, the Browns were in love with drafting wide receiver Laquon Treadwell. Again, they loved him so much that they took Corey Coleman with the 15th overall pick instead of Treadwell.

It’s silly season and rumors will swirl all the way until the draft begins.
