Ante Zizic Signs With Real Madrid

Former Cavaliers center Ante Zizic is heading back overseas to continue his professional basketball career as he has signed with Real Madrid for their next season.

Zizic is an upcoming unrestricted free agent and it’s been rumored since the NBA shutdown in March that he would head back overseas once the season was over.

The 23-year-old center came to Cleveland in the Kyrie Irving trade with the Boston Celtics three years ago but never found an established role with the Cavaliers due to the phasing out of the low post centers in today’s style of basketball.

Zizic spent most of his time as a reserve or with the Canton Charge, the team’s G-League affiliate. He appeared in 113 games over his three seasons with Cleveland averaging 6 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest.

His one season in the EuroLeague with Darüşşafaka in 2016-17, Zizic averaged 9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

The Cavaliers front court is pretty crowded heading into the 2020-21 season with Andre Drummond, Larry Nance Jr., Kevin Love, Jordan Bell, and Dean Wade currently on the roster.
