Ohio State vs TCU Preview

Ohio-State-vs.-TCU

It’s the last game before Urban Meyer returns to the sidelines. Ryan Day is facing his toughest opponent yet, the Buckeyes take on the TCU Horned Frogs tonight at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Both teams come into tonight at (2-0) and both have looked dominant. Ohio State is coming off a win against Rutgers 52-3. TCU is coming off a win against SMU 42-12.

What to watch for?

For the Buckeyes it’s quarterback Dwayne Haskins. He’s 42/53 on the year with 546 passing yards and 9 touchdowns to just 1 interception. If the Buckeyes can effectively keep him protected I expect the Buckeyes to move the chains and create scoring opportunities for themselves.

On the other side of things the Buckeyes have a test against quarterback Shawn Robinson. On the year, Robinson has thrown for 336 yards. He has thrown 4 touchdowns and just 1 interception. He especially can get things done on the ground. He’s carried the ball 10 times for 112 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The defensive line of the Buckeyes need to get to Robinson quickly to eliminate him getting comfortable and scrambling around in the pocket. He’s completed 62% of his passes this year. If the Buckeyes can eliminate his running ability they have chances to cause turnovers through the air.

On the ground for the Buckeyes the duo of Mike Weber and JK Dobbins is going to play a key role in this ball game. If the offensive line can open holes early in this game, both Weber and Dobbins will make plays. Ultimately this will open up for Haskins finding guys deep. A receiver to keep an eye on in tonight’s game is Terry McLaurin.

TCU’s offense is one of the best in the country. Ohio State’s defense is going to have a tough test tonight. But Shawn Robinson is the playmaker. He’s the one who makes all things happen in this offense. I’m calling out Nick Bosa and Chase Young to get through the line of the Horned Frogs and to get hits on Robinson early.

Prediction:

The Buckeyes come into this game awaiting the return of Urban Meyer. He will be back on the sidelines next week. I expect a hungry and mad football team to come out and prove to the nation that they are the best team in college football.

Ohio State: 38

TCU: 21
