Pep Hamilton leaving the Browns?

Just a day after rumors swirled about the defensive coordinator position, another position may have to be filled on the Browns coaching staff.

Hamilton is the passing game coordinator for the Browns and has been since joining Hue Jackson here last year. He did however address the media during the season as if he was the offensive coordinator.

However, it’s unclear if he did any play calling with the Browns as it was believed that Jackson did the play calling.

If he does indeed go to Michigan, he’ll be the offensive coordinator and passing game coordinator for the Wolverines.

Hamilton has college experience working at both Howard and Stanford.

He was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Stanford when Andrew Luck was the quarterback there and was also the wide receivers coach under Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh before Harbaugh left Stanford in 2011.

If Hamilton leaves, it’ll leave Jackson without his top two assistants. It’s being reported by multiple media outlets that the Browns will let go Ray Horton as defensive coordinator.

Although that position may be filled by the end of the weekend. Rams defensive coordinator Gregg Williams appears to be the front runner and reportedly only has till Monday to accept the job.

The Browns will have to scramble to fill the positions if necessary because they’ve been selected to coach the South in the Senior Bowl on January 28.

Although it looks like the moves shouldn’t affect their status
