The Cleveland Browns sit in a great spot heading into training camp with nearly $17 million in cap space (According to Over The Cap) to give themselves flexibility to continue adding talent to an already talented roster.
There’s still some question marks on the roster and there’s still talented free agents still out on the market that could look at the Browns as an attractive destination as they look to find a spot for the 2023 NFL season.
Here are some intriguing options who make sense for the Cleveland Browns
Matt Ioannidis, Defensive Tackle
Cleveland still needs to address the defensive tackle room despite overhauling it in the offseason with the additions of Dalvin Tomlinson, Siaka Ika, Maruice Hurst, and Trysten Hill.
Ioannidis has been consistent in his seven NFL seasons with five seasons of 34 pressures or more so he has the ability to get after the quarterback. His run defense grades have been lackluster but pairing Ioannidis with Tomlinson and letting Ika ease into a specific role in his rookie season.
Darrell Henderson, Running Back
It would seem like it’s going to be Nick Chubb and Jerome Ford leading the running back room but there was constant rumors that the Browns were looking to add a veteran throughout the offseason.
Cleveland were linked to veteran running backs Justin Jackson and Darrell Henderson, the latter visited Cleveland in late May. Henderson spent the majority of the last four years with the Los Angeles Rams before getting released last season and was with Jacksonville at the end of the year receiving zero play time.
The 26-year-old has averaged 4.4 yards per carry and rushed for over 600 yards in 2020 and 2021 with 13 touchdowns. He’s also proven to be a reliable pass catcher out of the backfield with 66 catches on 89 targets in his career. If the Browns don’t feel like Ford can be a solid RB2 to Chubb, they may look to bring Henderson in.
Reggie Ragland, Linebacker
The Browns already have a crowded linebacker room but there’s still some unknown heading into the 2023 season because of lackluster performances and players returning from injuries.
One player they could look to bring is former second-round pick Reggie Ragland who spent time with the Browns at the end of last season and made an impact when he got extensive playing time because of the injuries that swept through the room. Ragland posted seven tackles and a 91.9 PFF grade in 33 defensive snaps against New Orleans on Christmas Eve.
The Browns may just roll with what they got on the roster currently but with Anthony Walker, Sione Takitaki, and Jacob Phillips all coming back from serious injuries, they may look to add another player or two for camp and preseason.

Ndamukong Suh, Defensive Tackle
As mentioned above regarding the defensive tackle position, if they don’t make a move on Ioannidis or he decides to sign elsewhere. Suh makes a ton of sense for the Browns and has been connected to the Browns as recently as before the NFL Draft.

The 36-year-old didn’t sign with an NFL team until midseason last year when he ultimately joined the Philadelphia Eagles for their NFC Championship run. Suh played 186 regular season snaps, generating nine pressures and making seven solo tackles and two sacks. He only saw 48 snaps during the postseason generating four pressures and making two tackles and three quarterback hits.
Suh also has a history with new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz as well as defensive consultant Jim Washburn as the trio were together in Detroit when Schwartz was head coach of the Lions and Washburn was defensive line coach.
Rashaan Evans, Linebacker
The 26-year-old linebacker has a connection with defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz as the duo were together in 2o21 when Evans was with the Titans and when Schwartz joined Tennessee as a senior defensive assistant.
Evans made an impact on the Falcons defense posting 110 solo tackles and 46 stop tackles while posting a 78.8 tackle grade by Pro Football Focus.
He’s not great in coverage but that’s why the Browns have guys like Jeremiah Owusu-Kormoah, Anthony Walker, and Sione Taktaki to fill that role in the linebacker room. Evans could potentially be an under the radar late addition to help solidify the Browns defense.
