The Cleveland Browns are searching for a defensive coordinator for Freddie Kitchens’ staff.
Joseph interviewed for the Cardinals defensive coordinator position on Thursday and may interview for Jets defensive coordinator position as well.
The 46-year-old was fired from Denver after two seasons as the head coach, posting an 11-21 record over that span including 6-10 this past season.
Prior to being a head coach, Joseph was an assistant in the college and NFL ranks.
He has been a defensive coordinator, spending one season in that role with the Miami Dolphins in 2016.
That season the Dolphins went 10-6 and went to the playoffs under Adam Gase’s first season as head coach.
Joseph’s defense allowed 23.8 points (18th in NFL) and 382.6 yards per game (29th in NFL). Miami also had 25 takeaways which was 11th best in the NFL and featured two Pro Bowlers in Cameron Wake and Ndamukong Suh.
Joseph also spent time as the defensive backs coach for the San Francisco 49ers (2005-2010), Houston Texans (2011-2013) and Cincinnati Bengals (2014-2015).
He has been part of defenses that run either a 4-3 or a 3-4 scheme so it’s obvious he’s open to anything that players can succeed in which should be something of interest to Kitchens as well as general manager John Dorsey.
